We had drinks here a couple of times and a meal one evening. We both had schnitzel and they were very good indeed as were the accompanying salads. The owner speaks no English at all and handwrites the bill. She is still very welcoming, while the two dogs are friendly too! If we had had more time we would have gone back View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Zur Kupferkanne:
Looked cozy from outside. Inside so smokey had to step outside for fresh air, half dead flowers on tables with little bugs and water not changed for days. Very slow service, small dogs barking incessantly...food passable. Would not return! View all feedback.
We've been in Italy for many years to be with cousins. This was our first trip to Germany and we were not eaten earlier. In Germany, especially in these small cities like Bacharach, at 21:00 everything is closed! The restaurants are open in Italy. Anyway, this is one of the only options. It was not important, because this place is GREAT!! There's a sweet, older lady who took our order. Everything that came out was great. Over the years we had a few foreign exchange students with us, so our family swelled to nine people in the restaurant. Okay, nine people with beer, appetizers and entrees, plus the stupid 19% tax added to any meal, the sum came to 144€. Warm, entertaining atmosphere.
Very good, simple German food in a family restaurant. We all had carving and were satisfied. Say hello to their friendly dogs, Tina and Sue!
First night on the Rhine and after a long day travelling we were looking for somewhere affordable and quaint. From outside and the inside this looks like a traditional style German pub, and the barlady was accommodating towards us. The food was very average although eatable. The main problem that we had was the extremely strong smell of stale smoke in the property. It is clear that the staff smoke out of the public areas but this transfers into the restaurant and leaves a unpleasant odour. One of our party has smoked for over 50 years (and still smokes 20 a day) and he struggled with it. Had this been a pub only then there would have been no complaint but you don't want to eat your meal with that smell about.
This restaurant is nice and cozy. Average prices, with great first meal. I had the pork with the cheese, and it was fantastic ! Very delish, and would recommend people to get that. As for dessert, we got the apple pie . I am giving this a four out of five because of this reason. The dessert was store bought not made, but still good. And another reason im giving this a four stars is because the service is a bit slow, but we werent in a rush.
I stopped here whilst in the area the food was very good as was the service not sure what the terrible reviews are about as I couldn't see what the problem was maybe if it's very busy things could be a little hectic but I had a very good lunch
