That was such a great experience. the staff is super friendly, eating is much better than their hotel and the other restaurants and the price is not so expensive for this experience
So we visited this restaurant on the recommendation of TripAdvisor. It is not that easy to find but once there it is quaint and overlooks the river with nice views. It is the place to have fresh fish and we had two two large grilled...dorada, after sharing a calamari starter. The fish was good my only criticism is that this does not even come with some chips for euros each. At the beach we also have fresh fish but always with salad or chips included. Therefore we had to order chips and some tomatoes separately, adding another euros to the bill. So it was a nice meal but on the expensive side, and they also added bread and water onto our bill which we didn’t have, so always check! Would still recommend it for a good fish meal, nice ambiance but didn’t see the lady of the house who has been mentioned!
The food here is the star but the lady owner comes a close second. She is eccentric, friendly and memorable. There is no menu but everything is fresh off the boat and tasty. The razor clams are the best I have ever had anywhere. The...white fish meat (similar to cod) we shared for the three of us was grilled and perfect. Don't be put off that the location is off-beat. The restaurant is an oasis.
We go to la rana every time we're in ayamonte. this time we had extended the family with us and they did not disappoint. as usual was eating delicious. they even tell them when they have ordered too much food! nice family restaurant!
We have been to Restaurante La Rana twice now for a late lunch when the place tends to be empty. This allows the very friendly lady who runs the place to show us everything she has on offer...including the various fresh-caught fish. The freshly prepared...anchovies were delicious and the fresh tuna very tasty. The main dishes were accompanied by the La Rana tomato salad with special herbs, and a plate of grilled veggies. La Rana is very accessible as it's on the water at the western end of Isla Canela. Consequently, parking is not a problem (parking can be a problem in the center of Ayamonte).
