Away from the hurly burly of the busy festival town and just around the corner from our hotel, a really nice find. Ultra friendly helpful staff, tasty and nicely presented food and good prices including an evening formule set menu price. Wines were good too. Recommended View all feedback.

What Hendrik Ramautar dislikes about Le Petit Chaudron:
we reserved a table over the internet some days in advance and also got a confirmation from the restaurant. on the day of the planned visit restaurant canceled reservation without reason or “beauty”. So I wouldn’t go there, it’s hard to rely on them, and “customers first” doesn’t seem to be their main strategy. View all feedback.

Le Petit Chaudron is a bit off the beaten track but it's not much more than a couple of hundred metres outside the city walls. We were staying at the Novotel during the Festival so we welcomed the chance to try some interesting cuisine without having to brave the crowds in the city centre. We were not disappointed: the welcome was as warm as other reviews have mentioned and the food equally good. The evening menu was excellent value at €22, and both it and the fairly priced wine list concentrate on local produce as far as possible. We will certainly return on another visit to Avignon.

Just got back after having a phenomenal dinner and dessert here. The food was delicious, and the service was responsive. It very laid back. I had the pork filet, and my wife had the sea bass. Both were well prepared, beautifully presented, and tasted fabulous!!

Visited Saturday 10th June 2017. Le Petit Chaudron is just outside the walls behind the train station in a quiet residential location - definitely worth the short walk of less than five minutes from the station. We arrived somewhat late in the lunch service but received a warm welcome from the owners - both the front of house lady and the chef who came out of the kitchen to greet us. The three course set menu at 21 euros had plenty of choice as did the wine list - any bottle available by the glass or carafe at reasonable cost. The help yourself buffet as a starter had a lot of choice and was delicious as was our whole sea bass main course. The home made desserts were excellent. We were the last to leave after enjoying a long chat with the hard working owners. We will be returning to this little gem on our next visit later in the year.

I and my wife really enjoyed the adventurous and delicious food and the fact that it was in a residential area outside the walls. The couple that run it were very engaging and obliging. The wine list was extensive and inexpensive and available in glasses, carafes and full bottles. I had the rabbit stew which was succulent.

Phenomenal food for a very fair price. An old-school restaurant with no menus besides what’s written on the wall. 21€ for three courses, and several good house wines to choose from. Make sure to try the chestnut cake for dessert!

Great little joint, while close to the action it’s in a quiet neighborhood with plenty of parking. Really good value and probably the best meal we’ve had in our week in France for not a lot of money (I think we had 3 courses for 22€ when we were there and he made a smaller 3 course meal for our kids for 15 each). You could tell he put some thought into the meals, even the salad was excellent. Bon apetit!

Situated in a bland neighbourhood, and looking rather unassuming from the outside, you 'd be tempted to give the place a miss if you hadn 't been there before. That would be a monumental mistake! Pascal, the amazing Chef behind this 'Gastronomical Bistro ', is an Avignon local and a champion of the local cuisine (quite literally, for instance, for aioli ask him). And while the place would deserve a more impressive location, and perhaps a tiny bit more work on the decor, his passion is obviously food and wine, and so on your memorable evening there, he will woo you with a know how and ability to execute that you 'd be hard pressed to find elsewhere in the city. The man is a legend! There 's plenty of parking space but do not drive there! Pascal knows his wines, and it would be a sin if anything kept you from following his lead on that topic. He will find the perfect pairing of the day 's specials (no menu here), and you 'll spend a night to remember with an Avignon original and a consummate french chef.

The place was empty! We were the only customers for the evening. But food was quite good, not Michelin star quality but tasty and reasonably priced. Place also has air conditioning, very essential during hot summer months. Chef/Owner was friendly. Wish he has more business otherwise don’t see how he can continue with such low volume of business.
