This is the oldest restaurant in town and it does have the 20s feel. It closes after lunch and opens at 8 for dinner. Language was an issue but the staff was friendly and found someone to help. They have a buffet bar with a wide selection we opted for a meat cheese appetizer which was excellent. We wanted local dishes to the area. What Amerigo Milani doesn't like about Antica Trattoria Martella:
Italian menu only. I cannot give a better review as I could not understand the menu. I am English and do not understand or read Italian. I’m sure the restaurant is great but even Google translate wasn’t coping with the lack of 3G in there. Michelin starred maybe but only useful to those fluent in Italian. I went armed with a full wallet, and left hungry and disappointed. Couldn’t be bothered in the end. View all feedback.

We stumbled across this restaurant as we were traveling to Bari, and stopped for lunch. The place was packed with local Italian enjoying the food and ambience of this restaurant which has been run by the same family for almost 100 years. The food is typical country Italian style and very good. The selection of cold meat and local cheese was so good, we actually asked if we could buy a kg of the bresaola to take away. For main course, I choose the chicken with lemon sauce which was tender, tasty and properly cooked. It comes as is, so one need to order side dishes like their home made baked sliced potato. My wife had the scaloppa al vino which she totally enjoyed, tender, rich wine sauce and too much! All these were consumed with a couple of glasses of the local red wine which went well with the meal. Highly enjoyable food experience. The service was a little haddock but mainly due to the fact they were full to the max and we came in late. It was however friendly and timely. For good old fashion, traditional Italian food, highly recommended.

Had an excellent cake with chocolate for desert. This was a charming place to spend a couple of hours. Great staff upper mid range prices.
Historical trattoria, excellent gastronomic traditions. The typical Irpino, large gnocco with ragù, mallone and cod. Typical sweets. All right.
For the excellent cuisine and for the garnish of the staff! !
