Catfish Parlour - Austin

Their fried catfish is absolutely the best!!! I've been frequenting this place since about 2010, and their food is consistently delicious!!! Today I had the fried catfish, with a side of fries, macaroni, and rice pilaf. The catfish was the star, the fries were good, and the macaroni was delicious. The rice pilaf, I thought was just ok. I should trade my rice pilaf recipe for their catfish and macaroni recipe. Stop missing out, and try them out! They don't disappoint.

This is an Austin mainstay. I’ve been enjoying Catfish Parlour since the late 70’s and the food has never disappointed me. I’ve been here at least a few dozen times. I always get the fried catfish, Mac cheese and fries. The beer is ice cold and the prices are good for the quality and serving sizes. Today I took my dad and girlfriend. My dads thinks he’s been here before with my mom but it was my girlfriends first time. We arrived before the Saturday evening crowds so we got seated immediately. The service was great as usual. Come hungry or be ready to take home a doggie bag. I recommend not to fill up on the appetizer hush puppies. It hard not to but save room for the main courses. I highly recommend Catfish Parlour next time you visit Austin. Remember, Keep Austin Weird!

I used to think Shoal Creek had the best crawfish in town until I tried Catfish Parlour. Don’t be fooled by the location or modest decor, this place is great. I had fresh gulf oysters, the crawfish boil, and the vinegar based slaw. Everything was fresh and delicious. The crawfish had plenty of great seasoning but it didn’t overpower the sweetness of the crawfish. They were also perfectly cooked. My server was very sweet, kept me well stocked with fresh napkins and iced tea. Great service. Will be back.

This was some of the best seafood I've had in awhile. They have a jalapeno tartar sauce that is to die for. Wasn't hot or spicy,maybe we didn't get the hot peppers in our batch lol. But the flavor was very delicious and I hate tartar sauce. I had the boiled shrimp and it was awesome,my husband had the parlor platter which had catfish, fried oysters, fried shrimp and so much more. The catfish was very good,and so are the blacked eyed peas. Good cold beer and you can request a . They bring hush puppy sticks to the table and they taste so much more better then regular hush puppies. So I definitely recommend going there they have a friendly staff and clean facility. Nice atmosphere. The staff was prompt, friendly and very attentive. Complimentary hushpuppies and the food was good, but I didn't much care for the slaw.
