There are so few real bakeries. That's one of them. Breads of all kinds, scones, cookies, coffee and other delicious treats. I have a lemon hazelnut cake...big and so delicious!

Proposed by a friend to get really great house made bread. We kept and bought several loaves including 2 baguettes that barely managed to get home as the smell was overwhelming and we drank! OMG, went back for more 2 days later!

From doing it the right way legacy of his founder to the skillful craftsmanship of his new owner, that 's added his own flair, Independent Baking Company is a must to stop when you 're through Athens (or happy enough to live near). I wanted to get fresh biscotti for a gift and this place didn't disappoint! The smell when you walk in is just pure bliss! The customer service was very good. The bread is awesome and the scones are too!

All the bread is baked with love and French style. I bought multiple breads and pastries and was not disappointed with any. The peach and fig danish are a must try. Their brioche bread is so rich you can eat it on its own with out any spread.
