What a divine dining experience! A family friend arranged dinner reservations here and I wasn't sure what to expect. The dishes designed by Chef Rachel will absolutely blow you away. The wine and beer pairings were essential to an evening of delectable fine dining. Can't wait to come back for special occasions, or to impress family and friends! An absolute gem tucked away in humble Atascadero. View all feedback.
What Michael P doesn't like about Pair With Dead Oak:
Went to Sunday brunch and the menu had the weirdest food I have ever seen. First time I paid $18 for scrambled eggs. At least I had a nice beer and there were nice mimosas. Will not be back. View all feedback.
Wonderfully fresh, inventive food with exceptional ingredients. I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly! I would give 10 stars if possible!

First time trying this place a week or so ago. We wanted to try everything! Since there were only 2 of us we shared a few plates. Spanish tortilla, ahi tataki, empanada, and the skate. First off they served us a lovely amuse bouche of pork belly with just the right amount of jalapeno kick. We were off to a great start! The Spanish tortilla appears traditional but has some fun components like a delicious black currant mustard. The ahi tuna was my favorite dish a lot of subtle flavors (think earthy meets the sea) and so many different textures. The empanada was amazing and completely unexpected. The skate dish had a beautiful preparation but sadly, I wasn 't a fan of the fish itself. We did some of the recommended beer a wine pairings. I can 't drink beer, but my husband was really impressed. The wines were good, but I look forward to more selection in the future. The service was outstanding without being too intrusive or over the top. The chef came out to chat which I always appreciate. I think this is a GREAT addition to Atascadero. Side note: the revitalization around town is great. So much potential! I 've seen a few comments of here about how the food sounds weird. My advice is this: try and get out of your comfort zone. No, this isn 't a mac n ' cheese and chicken strips kinda place. Keep an open mind... things can be quite delicious if you give them a try! Enjoy.
If you love great food, come here! You might feel like restaurants in Atascadero aren't as good but this place will prove you wrong. We had the Ahi and the Empanadas and they were flat out amazing! The menu was a little unapproachable and we went just trusting other reviews. Do yourself a favor and go here before you can't get a reservation and they are our county's next best restaurant.
This place is AMAZING. We’re so lucky to have this in North County – Chef Rachel is SO creative and changes the menu all the time, so you can keep going back and try something new every time. The concept is also so unique – allowing you to pair each dish with either a great wine or beer option. On top of all that, the place has a really fun vibe and their staff is amazing. Very helpful, attentive and just fun. We keep going back and have sent so many friends here and everyone loves it.Also, I’ve taken our young daughter a couple of times – and they’re so accommodating with her. They have a really nice high-chair, and their bathroom has the nicest changing table (complete with bags) I’ve experienced out. I know this is only something a mom would notice, but it means a lot to me. Having said that – it’s still a place I prefer going without young kids and getting to enjoy as a date night or brunch, because it is really special.
