The food was delicious with a wide variety of options, although there could be more choices for vegetarians. The service was good and we enjoyed the music selection. However, we were informed that the restaurant was busy and had limited booking times available. Surprisingly, the restaurant was not full during our two-hour visit, with only eighteen people present over three hours. View all feedback.
What helenmoore2015 doesn't like about Rafters:
Castle ruin, worth a visit. No suitable parking places for this visit, you have to park on the road, no parking spaces at all, outside the caravan park as the caravan club doesn't allow you to drive to the castle. It is a bit of a walk and you have to walk through the caravan park to get to it. It’s a beautiful old ruin and well worth a visit. View all feedback.

My favourite music was playing as I drank my favourite ale and had a superb meal in my favourite place. The Brulo Sabro Galaxy no alcohol beer is the most delicious no alcohol beer we have ever tried and The Trail Finder on draught is the most perfect ale imaginable. The food was absolutely superb and the service was relaxed and friendly. I've going to Rafters since 1987 and the food has never been so good. The team are doing a brilliant job and I can't wait to back. Perfect.
Rafters has truly surprised us with their delicious food. Kirsten and Bobby have put in a lot of hard work to make Rafters a go-to spot for a fantastic meal. We tried a variety of dishes from their concise menu and they were all exceptional. The service is friendly and the beer selection, especially Fyne Ales, is top-notch. Definitely a place worth visiting if you're in the area, and worth going out of your way for if you're not. Well done Castle Sween!
The food and beer at this restaurant are excellent, and the friendly staff always make you feel welcome. Just be aware that they are closed on Wednesdays, so either plan to cook your own meal or drive a few miles to the nearest pub.
We arrived at the caravan site and I couldn’t be bothered to cook so we ordered prawn cocktail and then macaroni cheese and chips. It was delicious. Both were piping hot and very tasty. On our last night we decided to do the same. I started off with the garlic mushrooms and we both had the macaroni cheese again. This time the macaroni wasn’t as good. It was very runny and unfortunately the chips weren’t cooked. The mushrooms were yummy scrummy though. It was probably our fault the second time because the restaurant had just opened up for the evening. It won’t put us off as our meal at the beginning of the week was BRILLIANT!
