What Mirjam Zwahlen doesn't like about Auberge d'Imbes restaurant and guestroom:
Après avoir parcouru de très beaux paysages, nous atteignons ce lieu accueillant . Son cadre rustique est en cohérence avec l'environnement extérieur. les plats copieux sont simples, locaux et confectionnés avec goût à partir de bons produits. Nous avons passé un très bon moment entre amis. View all feedback.

Auberge D’Imbes is a lovely little restaurant/auberge set in a peaceful, rural location close to Archignac village in the Dordogne. Everything about this place is terrific the service always with a smile, the fabulous menu and the food is exquisite. We sat outside on the terrace which after dark is lit with stringed lights giving it a romantic and cosy feel. The menu has a range of different variations and something for most speciality is duck cooked in many ways. We started with an aperitif the Pêche wine, was delish and highly recommended! For food, we only wanted main course and dessert (at a push) and so I had the fish of the day a white sea fish (rather than river) which was delicious, cooked in a very light breadcrumb and which came with a mouth watering sauce and salad; perfect for me. My husband and 17 year old son had the entrecôte steak, cooked exactly to their individual liking, one with a red wine reduction and the other served with a blue cheese sauce. I hadn’t intended to have dessert but the food was so good I knew dessert would be and it didn’t disappoint! I had probably one of the best crème brûlées I have ever eaten crunchy top and so so light underneath. Husband had apple crumble served in a stylish glass with vanilla ice cream (his choice) we all tasted each others and crumble was gorgeous son who is fervently unadventurous, regretted his choice of choc ice cream in favour of either one of our choices! We drank a bottle of Provence rosé to wash it all down again, couldn’t fault it! As we were staying nearby, we had the luxury of not needing to drive home but even if we hadn’t been staying close, we would make an effort to drive there. Perfect evening and we will return as soon as we can.
We stumbled upon this little gem near our holiday home but unfortunately not until the end of our stay. The menu du jour was just €13 for 5 courses including a quarter carafe of wine. We were not expecting much but were blown away by the quantity and standard of the food and wine. We had soup, melon and pama ham, lasagne and salad, cheese and finally walnut cake. Every course was delicious. We sat outside in a lovely setting and the young man who served us was friendly, helpful and charming. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and will return next year if we are close by.
This family restaurant is really situated off the beaten tracks. It is almost in the middle of nowhere. The dining room is very nice, not too big, and sufficiently intimate. It is a simple, straightforward, classical kitchen, but really delicious. As starters, we had a tartar of two salmons (smoked and raw) and a sauté of duck liver, both of which were very good and tasty. Afterwards, we hade sliced, stuffed veal and a sauté of lamb (ancient mode). Both were really delicious: soft and juicy, flavoured as expected. Desserts were good, but not at the same level of the rest. There is not a big choice of wines, but excellent local wines are available. Service was impeccable, and the waiter was very friendly and helpful.
Just had a very nice evening here. Lovely setting, with good local food cooked beautifully. V happy that the kid's menu wasn't burger and fries but instead a little version of a lovely adult meal. I was surprised that it was so quiet on a Saturday night the restaurant deserves to be busier! Visit enjoy.
