First visit to the lodge under the new set up...Dog friendly, and nicely situated for a halfway around the park walk(depending where you're parked)...Had a scone with jam&cream and a latte...Very nice and good value for money.(Think the scones are the same as the ones in the visitor centre)If they aren't,they're just as good..Well worth a visit..Other foods on display, looked nice and inviting too View all feedback.
What Mk1MX5ERS doesn't like about Derby Lodge Cafe:
Out on a walk around Shipley Park,my partner l,decided to have a cob a coffee. The cob was fine, but the latte coffee was horrible.Tasted like powdered packet stuffDon't know if this is normally served as a latte, but with so many places serving nice, proper machine made lattes, this was not a pleasant experience.. Excellent cakes donated to Smalley Hall care home! Lovely staff and lovely enough to donate cakes to our residents
Called in Today and had Quiche. It was the best I have ever tasted. Well Worth a Visit. A regular stop off on our dog walks in future.
We got excited seeing vegan milkshake and coffee on the menu but the coffee was really weak instant coffee and the regular milkshake they served us was barely a third full. Not impressed.
We only popped in for a quick drink on our walk round the top end of the park Excellent pot of tea for me and no complaints from husband regarding his flat white coffee We couldn't resist a slice of lemon cake too. Very lemony and very light. I could have managed another one Charming and helpful young lady behind the counter couldn't have looked after us any better Best of all was the garden.Quiet apart from birdsong with big tables and a choice of sunny or shady seats. What more could we want? I'll tell you A bigger appetite. We shall return
When we visited, it was a nice sunny day and there was a short queue for getting coffee. I originally thought they this was a good sign. The place must be popular for a good reason. The small queue however took ages to move. I actually found out that it was because there was only one girl doing the till, sorting the cakes and making the coffee. No wonder it was took forever. It seemed like a disorganised mess. We managed to get one of our coffees made to order, but they had trouble making the second one with almond milk. It is 2022 all these different milk types are pretty standard in most cafes now and shouldn't be a big deal. It is something that the cafe say they offer, but this seemed to be a huge challenge for them. The almond milk coffee was brought to us a full 10 minutes after the other one was (no exaggeration). The first coffee was getting cold by the time we got the second one. The coffee was genuinely the worst I have tasted in a while. If you like coffee to taste like anything other than hot water, then this is not a place to visit. Unfortunately the place reminded me more of an old ‘tuck shop’ selling packets of crisps and tasteless vending machine coffee, rather than a nice cafe. Sorry for the bad review, but we were very disappointing. On a separate note, the young girl behind the counter (the one doing everything) was really nice and friendly.
