our five-headed family went to a late lunch on the holy evening into this Mexican institution. an absolutely beautiful and large building in a park-like environment, it was completely filled with families that celebrate the holiday. the service was a little slow, but understandably because of. every day in our group ordered various appetizers and main courses, and everything was pretty good, except for my reddling, w... San Angel Inn is a classic of CDMX with a magical atmosphere and a historical touch. It is a valuable and necessary stop when in México City. On sunday Nov 13 we were a group of 4 friends, regulars here through the years. On this...occasion we had one the best experiences, food wise, in a long time here. The food preparations are simple and the product quality and freshness superior. Our starters where two cream of artichoke soups, one smooked salmón and a french onion soup. Our main courses were huachinango fish coocked in white wine with artichokes, chiles rellenos with cheese and meat, and two fish extraviados coocked in papillote. All was delicious with a spacial mention for the fish in papillote. The wine we choose for dinner was the Spanish Rueda Verdejo Valbudon. We also ordered Manhattans and Litchee Martini's before dinner. The overall bill for four was a bit over 6900 Pesos. Now for the downside just in case management is reading this. We arrived at 19h30 on sunday evening. We were taken to our table in the main dinning room. Our waiter showed up with one menu for four guests and stated the bar would close at 20h15 and the kitchen at 20h. This was an extremely rude start to our experience. We continued without a fuss but quite taken a back. Unfortunately the mediocre and rude service continued. It was pressing all the time which spoiled our enjoyment. The grand finally came when our waiter brought the check. As usual in México, he asked if he should close the check. Our answer was yes. He prepared the card terminal and returned for payment. He prensented the terminal on the tip page. We told him we had asked him to close the bill. In a very rude and inappropriate maner he proceeded to explain we should leave a tip. That is when all hell broke loose as we told him it was our choice if we leave a tip and how we leave it We usually leave it in cash . We also mentionned how rude his service had been and that it took away from the overall enjoyment. Despite the noticible incident, the manager capitan did not approach to see what was going on. He should have and it is management's responsability to make sure this type of thing doesn't happen ever. Don't go to México City without trying San Angel Inn and don't let the waiters treat you in an inappropriate way. You can enjoy breakfast here as well.

Interesting family meal. Good standard of cuisine some mistakes but high quality of produce. The highlight is the pretty garden courtyard. A haven for flowers and birds. It was a magical hour of peace and food. Easy to recommend.
The san angel inn is a must when in Mexico City. the location is perfected: an old Hacienda house with central garden and elegant settings. eating is high end Mexican cuisine at its best, favorite classic dishes raised to very fine dining. the tables. arranged both inside the hacienda itself or around the central garden. they have an inner bar or they can sit outside at the central garden and taste one of the best margaritas, fresh lime and upscale tequila, served with a side shaker in ice. perfection. that is a real margarita! they also have a margarita de tamarindo (tamarind) which is also delicious and worth a try for something else. absolutely wonderful service means that you can enjoy one of the best experiences anywhere. the menu is huge Mexican classic with high quality flair and elegant presentation. there are also continental options to choose from. I personally recommend the crepas huitlacoche, which are crepes with a kind of mushroom in a tomatensauuse and are dusted with cheese, and carne asada, thin steak with some mol sauce, Mexican rice, and cut chile rajas. everything is delicious, like their ceviche os tortilla suppe. dessert room! crepes with cajeta or my favorite a ile florainte embroidered with fresh fruit. there is some comforting old world over the san angel inn. a step back into the time almost. a beautiful place to sit back and enjoy a delicious meal and sit in the sunshine. make sure to leave the joyfulness of the time to realx and enjoy a real Mexican expedition.
We were seated in the courtyard. There are so many flowers, birds, greenery, it is a lovely sight indeed. Food was great there are typical Mexican dishes, there are spins on the traditional plates and there are straight forward international staples. In our group...of three we had it all onion soup, chiles en nogada, crepas con jaiva en curry and pastel de elote. I appreciated the wine list too, as there was a good selection of Mexican wines. Service was good, we had three people taking care of us. It is not a cheap eatery, guys! Be ready to spend a good amount of . However, taken it all together, I say it is still worth it.
