Small, cute hotel on fantastic location. It’s 2 min walking from T1 tram station and Grand bazar, but in peaceful street. Room are very nice, clean, in good shape. Hotel has nice terrace on a roof with nice view. Staff is very kind. Halil as host of restaurant is very polite and at disposal for all. Fantastic value for money, I recommend hotel. What Javier Roque doesn't like about Niles Hotel & Restaurant:
If you want to stay in a 1908 historic hotel, they expect this old character. are flexible, so they can appreciate staying in a rustic piece of history. beautiful people. View all feedback.
I really wanted to like the Niles Hotel, but there were just a few too many issues. The hotel has lots of character and the room was generally comfortable. The location was also very good, right in downtown Alturas. Room amenities were a bit lacking, especially given the price of the room. There was no TV and no fridge in the room. I don't mind no TV if I'm in a resort or getaway hotel, but this was a stopover on a road trip, and it would have been nice to have TV, especially since it was dark shortly after 5 pm. In addition, the internet wouldn't work in my room, so the only way to get wifi was to go downstairs to a common area not very convenient or comfortable given the Covid situation. The other thing I didn't like was that none of the staff I encountered was wearing masks that's not very considerate or courteous to guests.
An amazing period hotel for a bargain price. It’s like stepping back in time.
I stayed one night in late June 2021 based on excellent reviews. I am guessing the staff write the positive reviews, because the room and hotel fell far short of expectations. 1. The room was dirty. The tub had a long black hair in it. (I'm a blonde The carpet felt sticky. The blanket had visible stains that looked recent. 2. It was uncleanable. Every (tiny) table was covered with magazines, guest books, and bric-a-brac. There was no place to set down a drink or a purse. Most of the stuff looked like it came from a flea market and should return there. And all the woodwork was worn — there was no finish on it. So it attracts dirt and is impossible to sanitize. The carpet had ripples high enough to pose a trip hazard. 3. It smelled. The hallway had an overpowering smell of spicy potpourri — obviously attempting to cover up some other (worse) smell. The room also smelled like that but to a lesser degree. There was no way to escape the smell. 4. The mattress was caved in and the bed was rickety. My husband lay on his side of the bed just once, and the whole bed collapsed several inches with a CRAAAACK He chose to sleep in the car instead of staying in the room. I'm not kidding. He was already leaning that way after #1 3, but the bed was the last straw for him. When we arrived, we were told our room was a guest favorite Who are these alleged guests? Raccoons? This is by far the most depressing place I've ever stayed, and I seek out historic hotels!
Absolutely love this place!! Great staff and friendly staff. I will be coming here again for sure??
They always have a good experience with the niles and the waitress there!
