1799 Prime Steak Seafood - Alexandria

We, along with friends that just moved to town, enjoyed a WONDERFUL dinner drinks last night at 1799 Prime. I had the seafood linguine which was fabulous and others had incredible steaks fish. The service was excellent, especially considering that the place was packed bustling on a Thursday evening primarily due to it being Restaurant Week in Alexandria. The staff handled the clientele, seating and service very well. Fun, enjoyable, excellent evening! Be sure to get the Creme Brûlée Cheesecake, too!!!

We enjoyed our experience at 1799 Prime. We had a small group of four and ordered a variety of entrees. We started with the bread, and whiskey shrimp and calamari as appetizers. The butter for the bread was scrumptious and we devoured the bread and appetizers. Between the four of us we had the shrimp and grits, Duroc pork chop, and the French dip sandwich. All of the entrees were fabulous. And, I could not stop eating the side order of Brussels. They were fantastic! My friend ordered two Yuzu Pretty Rickey drinks. I had a couple of sips and found it very tasty. My peanut butter pie was delicious as well. One minor complaint is that it felt a bit overcrowded in the dining area. Removal of a few tables would have made it a little less claustrophobic and more comfortable for us all. Overall, the servers and food experience experience great. I also appreciated the visit to the table by the manager. I wish I had taken photos of the food but I was too busy eating it. I encourage any food lovers to visit and see for themselves!

This was a pretty disappointing experience. We’ve been to 1799 a handful of times before without issue, but tonight was a big bummer. We waited for 35 minutes after our reservation time and saw no movement in the restaurant where any tables of 2 were getting up. Angry and hungry, we ended up eating in the bar. For a restaurant that has such a high class vibe, this was not a high class experience…
