I drove out of my way, on my trip from the Algarve to Lisbon, to have lunch at this restaurant. I must say was not disappointed, at all! The staff greats you and welcomes you with a smile and. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed...(in spite of some noisy small children at the time). The food, typical from Alentejo, is absolutely delicious, very tasty and well cocked. I asked for a suggestion of red wine and, I was ver... View all feedback.
What Хожинбэх Doe doesn't like about Restaurante Castro da Cola:
On the plus side it was a beautiful location and the staff was very friendly. The food was strange though. Lots of meat, Nothing vegetarian or vegan. No one in our company liked their food but the place seems to be popular so I guess...the locals like it. View all feedback.
Our family stopped here, quite late, on the way from Faro to Lisbon. The owner was extremely nice, the place is beautiful, and the staff was very pleasant. We got there just at dusk, which was a pity as the place looks like it has the most beautiful views. The food was outstanding, with the best Sopa de Cação that I have ever tried (and I have had it in many places). Will certainly get back there if not to also stay at their lovely cottages, at least for another wonderful meal.
We stopped in for lunch while driving from Evora to the Algarve. Even though salads were not on the menu, the staff gladly accommodated with two delicious mixed salads. The restaurant atmosphere is fun and staff super friendly. I'd eat here again!
I found this restaurant on Trip Advisor. It's a short drive from Ourique along a quiet country road. The restaurant is literally at the end of the road. The location is peaceful and we sat outside on a lovely terrace. The waiter was really charming and although his English wasn't brilliant he couldn't have been more helpful. The food is traditionally Alentejo orientated and did not disappoint. I had pork in a lovely mushroom sauce and it was delicious. Other in the party had chicken with rice and a breadlike cous-cous served with pork. The ambience was lovely and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food.
This restaurant is located in the middle of nowhere, but when you arrive there and face a lot of people eating with such happiness is a strong sign, no? The food is regional from this area of Portugal (Alentejo) and the prices are nice. The staff is great. even it it is a bit fare from the normal routs, I recommend to go there!!! Try the "Sopa de Cação" and all meat dishes, everything is very good!
Stopped after seeing recommendations on TripAdvisor. Indeed, this restaurant is worth the detour. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very nice lady who offered to serve us on the terrace or have Oli, our dog, resting on the porch instead with some water. For this alone we would return, but they proved to be even nicer. We ordered sopa de Cação and Jantar de Grão, both excelent. House wine was very good. Desserts were tasty, truly typical . Definitely recommend this place!
