Marisqueira Quatro Aguas - Alcoutim

Started off well with a lovely Brazilian lady talking to us , but went downhill, how can fried prawns take an hour to get to us when we are the only people in the restaurant. Over priced and bad service, you would expect the waiters to at least be dressed professionally for the prices asked. Won’t go again.

In a region where a fresh fish lunch for two including drinks, on the seaside, costs €24, it is truly excessive that 4 Aguas charged us €14 for two coffees and a few slices of bread with three jams.

On a February weekday this was the only place open on the promontory that runs out from Tavira. The situation by the riverside is lovely, with a choice of inside, covered or outside seating. In February there were only a handful of tables occupied so service was very prompt. Food was decent for a light lunch, but would probably be 3 star whole place lifted to 4 star due to the location. I would go back again if i was looking for a lovely spot to sit in the sun and watch the river and wildlife go by. I would not go back just for the food which was perfectly OK, but nothing special.

If I had read the reviews probably wouldnt have eaten here but have too say we had a pleasant meal .Agree the owner is a littke gruff but the rest of the staff were fine .The bread/olives and carrots are not great but our seafood rice for 2 people was very tasty packed with crab,prawns and mussels.Would we go back ...no as to many other places to try

We chose this restaurant as it was recommend in DK Eyewitness Travel but we should have realised it was in a tourist area so was likely to be over priced. I was going the have the clams but they were 75 euros! We should have left when we saw the pricing but being terribly British we decide not to cause a scene and stay. I chose the grilled quid instead and it was like rubber. I've eaten squid many times and this was by far the most awful I've every had! My husband had the tuna steak which was delicious but not worth the money they charged. The service was awful and we took twenty minutes trying to get someones attention to get the bill and then they couldn't take card! Not the finest meal of our trip.
