We stopped here for a late lunch with friends whilst visiting Albury. The restaurant was empty but we were made to feel welcome and by a lady we assumed was the owner. She had a delightful friendly personality and definitely kept us amused! At the end of the meal she got out her piano accordion and proceeded to play a variety of happy tunes! Not something you would expect in a chinese restaurant but it brought a smil... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Pan-Lan Chinese Restaurant:
If you are looking for a tasty Chinese dinner for the family this is not the right choice. They give you soggy honey chicken and below average fried rice. Our children would not eat it and I also could not eat it. Szechaun scallops average. Rang them to tell them $35 dollars of take away ordered was uneadible and was told they always serve it that way unless you request sauce separate. Do not get take away from this... I’ve just moved to Albury and visited this restaurant in the hope to get some takeaway lunch. After waiting forever to be served at the counter I asked if they had a lunch special which most Chinese restaurants I’ve been to do. The lady shook her head and told me that they were busy and I should go somewhere else. There were 4 other people in the restaurant . I just said ok and left. It was really bizarre and let’s just say I will never be returning. You are much better off going to the Albury Chinese restaurant just down the road which was unfortunately closed on this day where at least you’ll get served.
Unfortunately we were very disappointed with our Chinese. The Fried Rice was basically steamed rice with a little bit of bacon, a couple of prawns and a few frozen peas. The honey chicken came in a bag and the sauce seperate. Our Mongolian lamb was more like sweet and sour lamb. Won’t be returning.
Ordered a wonton soup, chicken and sweet corn soup, XO salmon sauce prawn, sizzling Mongolian lamb and special fried rice. All meals were tasty and very good. Service was prompt and with a smile. Price was very good as were the serving sizes. While we were the first two in at 1730, there were 8 tables full when we left.
Just the last night of our holidays so we wanted a lovely romantic dinner out at a nice venue. We looked in the window of Dean Street and liked what we saw. The music was gentle and unobtrusive, the welcome smile was genuine, the wine was lovely, the food was excellent and the service without a flaw. The price was very reasonable and we left feeling the night could not have been better. If we were living locally, this would be our favourite restaurant.
I was a regular to this restaurant 18 months ago. It was my favourite place, but now.... I don’t know if they have new owners or just being slack with food The lemon chicken used to be two breast pieces of chicken, fresh and crispy. Now it’s small chicken bits in a bag that are soggy and battery. The special fried rice is just rice, ham and about 8 peas and 5 prawns (yes I counted) There is no filling in the spring rolls like there used to be The Mongolian lamb has a strange flavour and lots of chilli. The prawn crackers were all in little bits and had a weird oily taste to it Such a shame as we won’t be coming back again
