Love, love, love a good dive diner and Champy's fits the bill. The food was fantastic. The fries were crisp and the chicken is well seasoned and cooked to order. It was piping hot and fresh. It wasn't greasy, but juicy and we all know there's a difference! Our server was friendly and attentive (and I'm so sorry, I forgot her name), but she gave us just enough service without being annoying (again, we all know the dif... View all feedback.
What Junior Rodríguez doesn't like about Champy's Famous Fried Chicken:
this was probably one of the worst restaurants i haved ever went to whole place was packed and thats fine what disappointed me was they had us waiting for drinks almost 10 minutes and people were already getting food when we were here first and talking about the food this place has barely any meals to eat our food came after waiting almost an hour just for it to taste horrible and the fries so SO sour. I have been wanting to try this restaurant for quite some time, and I am so glad that I finally did. The atmosphere is very friendly and interesting, the service was quick and the staff were all smiles, and the food was absolutely delicious! I ordered the catfish, and unlike most places where it is overcooked and greasy, it was light, flaky, well-seasoned, and perfectly crunchy. The hush puppies were smaller than I expected, but they were crispy and flavorful. The beer selection was great, and the staff were knowledgeable about the options available. I stayed to enjoy the live music by the Sassy Brown Blues band and had a fantastic time. I can't wait to come back again!
I visited a friend for the first time at Champy's on Thursday evening, April 13, 2017. We started with the Tamales, which were a pleasant surprise. They were served in corn husks with a beautiful sauce, great taste, and a bit of a kick. Next, we tried the fried chicken fries, which were incredibly hot and fresh. The fries had a crispy exterior and fluffy insides, while the chicken was perfectly fried with crispy skin and tender meat. It reminded me of my grandmother's fried chicken. We finished off our meal with the Mississippi Mud and Key Lime cakes, which were good but not outstanding. The highlight of the evening was the live music by Kyle Kimbrell, whose simple style and beautiful voice added to the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant. I will definitely be returning to Champy's soon!
The chicken with the spicy sweet sauce was amazing! Our server, Erin, was exceptional! We must return when the live music starts. The restaurant is lovely with great ambiance.
This place is the real deal. The fried chicken is real southern fried chicken. The portions are large and delicious. Large beer selection and friendly staff.
I came here for lunch, and it was Amazing. Great food, sweet staff, delicious tea! Everything about this restaurant is fantastic. They even have the Good Ice.
