Stayed at the apartments next door and chose this for convenience, have always steered clear of Indian restaurants, food was fresh and truly pleasant. Only let down was the young waitress seemed to not be very well trained and did not seem to have great english, this caused problems both in ordering and billing. Would be happy to return. What User doesn't like about Tandoori Hut:
This is a big place, but it really is very empty, which makes it look unattractive. I came here and had a very decent curry, but it was difficult to get the wine I wanted, as apparently they advertise a lot of things they don't actually hold. I get the impression it's a popular spot for takeout, but it should be doing better, considering it is right next door to a big university building. View all feedback.
I ordered lamb shanks off the menu going by the recommendation from someone in previous review................ what a mistake!!They basically microwaved a frozen piece of shank (which was still freezing from the inside) with a very strange and horrible tasting sauce, something similar to a chilli mayo sauce you get in supermarket. When i complained about this to the waitress, she told me she'll get the chef to speak to me. The chef couldn't be bothered to come out and waitress re-heated my plate in microwave explaining that frozen shanks was a normal thing and that the chef had prepared the sauce fresh.......... what a load of **** because the sauce tasted like hungry jack's chilli sauce!Being an Indian i can tell you, this has to be one of the worst and fakest (if that is a word) Indian i have had.Steer clear of this one.
Staff were friendly considering we got there very late and they gladly accommodated us. Menu has plenty of variety and meals are very reasonably priced.
We at first thought that the Tandoori Hut's menu would be at least a little expensive but were more than pleasantly surprised. My wife had Indian style lamb shanks and I had curried something. Both meals were excellent in presentation and taste. The price for each was less than $14.00. I would have no hesitation in recommending this place for those who enjoy good food at a price that won't break the bank.
This place is very close to the Breakfree where we were staying. Overall the food and service were fine. There was just nothing special about it to make it get a higher rating. I ordered the chicken vindallo and my wife got the Dal.
Had chicken tikka masala which was very tender and delicious, with garlic naan (yum) and rice. Had beer to wash it all down and almost couldn't finish it all. Very nice food and very reasonable price. Would eat here again with my family.
