Curious on the rave of Adelaide's cafe, bar and epicurean scene so decided to google some reviews and stumble across several good reviews of Africola, decided to book a 2nd dinner seating. As I walk along Rundle St 15min prior to my reserved time I received a call to reconfirm my reservation, I arrived at the scene and was greeted with bustling buzz of guests, chefs in its open-kitchen and bartendress...already lovin... What User doesn't like about Africola:
I have eaten in Africola at past annual visits in Adelaide and find the flavors quite distinctive and worth going. However, the increase to price cut only from $75 per person, now increased to $85, fairly unjustified. Maybe during the height of Covid... to prevent food waste, but at the moment I think that it is completely up to its verified reputation and curiosity. There may be enough people who are deceived for th... View all feedback.
The fantastic decor at this restaurant creates an exciting atmosphere, but our main focus was on the food. We were blown away by the incredible dishes, expertly flavored with perfectly cooked beef. A friend even questioned if it was possible to ever taste such a perfect piece of beef again. We asked for another serving, half the size of the original, and it was still amazing. The cauliflower was surprisingly delicious as well. Unfortunately, we won't be able to come back soon as we don't live in South Australia and it wouldn't make sense to fly our husbands over just for the "feed me" meal. They enjoyed it so much that they ate our portions and we had to order more for ourselves. We found the $300 we paid for four servings of the "feed me" meal to be worth it. Special appreciation for the staff who handled a nearby table of disrespectful customers in a professional manner, allowing other diners to enjoy their evening. Africola, you rock!
This was my third time dining at Afri and it continues to exceed my expectations. It's easy to see why it's regularly rated as one of the best restaurants in the country. The food is sensational, with generous servings and a perfectly balanced wine list. The cocktails are knockout and the atmosphere is buzzing yet unpretentious. The staff is on point and you won't be disappointed by the value, especially if you're used to the high prices in Sydney or Melbourne. Make sure to book in advance and even if only a late booking is available or seating at the bar, definitely take it.
The dessert of grilled stone fruit with watermelon granita, pickled watermelon, peppermint, and almond crumb was a treat for the senses with its incredible flavors and textures. The creatively delicious tea sandwich was also a standout dish at this restaurant.
We thought this place was fabulous! We'd been treated to a gift voucher by my brother and sister in law from the UK. They booked it electronically!! Great gift. The welcome was extremely friendly but genuine. Our waitress was knowledgeable and chatty but not overbearing. All of the wines paired with our food were organic and tasty. Not necessarily what we would pick, so a great opportunity to try different varieties. Food was ace. Started with a crispy chicken fat sandwich with a dripping gravy. Sounds odd but was totally delicious. I had mussels, Hubs had a lamb curry with hummus and chick peas, served with a tasty soft flat bread, we had piri piri chicken, wood oven baked cauliflower and finally Adam had a smoked nectarine with melon and crumbly topping. All too yummy!! We will definitely visit again. Bookings essential. Book online. Enjoy!!
Flavour's are on point! Amazing customer service definitely the best food in Adelaide
