I've been visiting the Ritz for nearly 55 years, and I still stop by every time I'm in Newcastle. It's a classic fish and chip shop that has stuck to the same recipe since I was five years old, consistently offering the best value for fish and chips around. The fish portions are massive, the scallops are generous, the batter is excellent, and the burgers are top-notch. When I was a child, people would drive for three... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Ritz Cafe:
I do not recommend ordering fish and chips from this place. It was more frustrating than enjoyable. The fish was overcooked to the point that it was difficult to bite into. If I had eaten it, I would have returned it. I definitely won’t be coming back. View all feedback.
Went there for early takeaway at around 4:00pm as our kids eat dinner early. Ordered two kebabs and medium chips. Kebabs were decent. Very large with a good flavour. Chips, however, were soggy. It looked like they refried cold chips from earlier in the day. Would go back for kebabs if I was out of options, but will never come back for hot chips again.
Really fresh and yummy fish and chips, perfect for the spontaneous summer time chip sangas with friends and family.
This place has gone to the bottom of the hill. Food is disgusting, and way over cooked. chips are cold and when I called, care factor was less than zero.
Chips are poor quality half was thrown out, burger was ok overloaded with sauce needs to be made with care.will not return

When I was a child, people would drive for three hours from Sydney just to enjoy the beaches and the Ritz. It remains unmatched. The restaurant holds a special place in my childhood memories, and I appreciate that it’s still around. Don’t worry about the decor; you’re not there for that. You go for the food, and you definitely won’t be disappointed.
