I am Austrian by birth and live in Australia. I visited Alt Heidelberg in October 2016. The food was excellent, the service was quick and drink was served first...that's how we like it. The Service girls lacked on English and did not understand one word of German. The owner seemed not very interested in customers and was listening (loud) to German news on the internet. Great place. quality everywhere. especially good carvings and sauces. I hope it never changes
The food is excellent but the service is slow. One order takes 30 mins to deliver. Noone has that much patience when hungry. However the staff and everything else incl ambience is very nice.

It took me a few tries to get him answer some basic questions. Yes the restaurant is on the way out, if it doesn't get restored to its former glory.
The best German food ever! also many choices of Thai food and international food.
Quiet. Owner is great. Food looks great. Will go back for lunch and good conversation.
