Was 木村一夫 at ドライブイン Zhōng Cūn Shí Táng a mag?
I have been to this restaurant several times, but this is the first time I am leaving a comment. As mentioned in other reviews, it is a beloved local restaurant that is truly heartwarming. I found this highly rated restaurant through a last-minute search when my favorite place was closed. It was a bit of a detour, but I decided to give it a try. I ordered the daily C lunch set, which came with a Negitoro bowl and a choice of udon or soba for 780 yen. The food was served in less than 10 minutes, and for 780 yen, the portion was quite generous. The Negitoro was decent, maybe a 70 out of 100. The elderly couple running the place did a good job with the rice, not too mushy. The soba I ordered was warm and a bit soft, not my favorite, but the extra toppings of fried tofu and fried bean curd made it interesting. The side dish of sliced mushrooms with grated daikon was a nice touch. I love grated daikon, it reminds me of a simple meal with salmon skin or grated daikon over rice. The pickled Chinese cabbage didn't really match the season, but it was okay. The portion size was decent, enough to make you feel full after finishing. Overall, the food was not outstanding but decent, and for a budget-friendly lunch option, it's a good choice. I would give it a score of around 62. Would I come back? If the popular tripe restaurant is closed again in the future, I might consider coming back to this place in Taniwahara.
I ordered the spicy pork bowl set. The zaru soba had a nice firm texture and was delicious to eat. The spicy pork bowl had shredded cabbage on top of rice, topped with slightly sweet sauce and stir-fried pork belly and onions. The portion of rice was generous, making it a hearty meal. My partner ordered the oyster fry set. I forgot to take a photo, but the oysters were large and the homemade tartar sauce was delicious. The miso soup was filled with plenty of ingredients and had a traditional taste which was very good. I was surprised when I saw another customer order the yakiniku set and it was a huge portion with a lot of meat. They even received a takeout pack. Overall, the dishes had great volume and tasted delicious.
