The Beestekraal Station Restaurant, created by Bennie Hattingh, is a charming establishment located in the old original Beestekraal Station Goods shed. It all started with a simple idea of offering hot dogs to visitors, but has since blossomed into a unique experience. The decor of the restaurant is a labor of love, with antiques donated by patrons serving as displays. Bennie, a skilled craftsman in the Timber Industry, personally constructed most of the seating and the inviting deck at the front. The restaurant has become a popular spot for tourists heading north or to nearby game lodges, as well as for locals who were instrumental in its early success. Rich in history, visitors may even hear tales from the Station Master of 1949 about the days before the tar road, when leopards roamed and farmers traversed the land in ox-drawn carts.
