Fantastic location by the harbor. We received an upgraded room, though I'm not quite sure what that entailed. It was spacious and included a sofa, but the view was just rooftops and an alleyway. View all feedback.
Our recent visit to the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire was disappointing, particularly due to the need to change rooms and the lack of proper accessible accommodations. It was frustrating to have to explain our mobility challenges multiple times to various staff members. I would like to specifically acknowledge Levent and Eric, who were incredibly helpful during our stay. Unfortunately, the accessible room facilities did not meet our expectations. I had booked an accessible room for my sister and me, given our mobility challenges, but upon check-in, we found it unsuitable. While it was advertised as accessible, the toilet was too low and only had one fixed grab rail located behind it, which was impractical and could have caused injury. The walk-in shower, while a positive feature, lacked grab rails to assist with entering or exiting. A staff member who assessed the room agreed with us about its inadequacy and suggested we switch to another room. Upon returning from an appointment, a manager was called to discuss the room change, but they seemed uninterested and were not familiar with the necessary features of an accessible room. They quickly referred us to Levent, who kindly showed us an alternative room and helped us with our luggage. Although this second room was slightly better, it still had significant issues. The same poorly positioned grab rail was behind the toilet, along with an additional loose rail in front. The shower had one grab rail, but the dressing area lacked any support, making it unsafe for people with limited mobility. I was surprised that a hotel of this caliber would offer such insufficient accessibility options. It was clear that the rooms had not been evaluated by someone with a disability, and I cannot imagine how a wheelchair user would manage. Additionally, the room was quite small, further complicating matters.
The location by the harbor is amazing. We were given an upgraded room, although I'm not entirely sure what that meant. It was quite spacious and had a sofa, but the view was only rooftops and an alley.
