What User dislikes about Opa Souvlaki:
NOT GOOD. I heard lots of people complain about this location but I work close and I love OPA so some girls from work and I went today!! Very dissapointed. The lady that served us was so cheap that she actually scopped out some food from the girls plates!! When I asked to get my platter wrapped up the wanted to charge me extra, which I already know cuz all opas do that BUT the price in this one was double and the POR... View all feedback.
I went out for a nice fall lunch walk and decided to treat myself to a fresh Souvlaki and salad... but I’m still searching for that fresh taste! What I paid just over $10 for was downright terrible. No sugar-coating it—I won’t be returning. The platter was handed to me half-tilted and upside down, with tomato juice dripping onto me and the people around. It was leaking from the Styrofoam container. When I politely asked for a bag, they just threw one at me. Then I had to hunt down napkins, cutlery, and pepper myself. Trying to keep the container upright as I left, I hoped my lunch would survive the walk back to the office. When I got to my desk and opened the container—upside down, of course—I found a tomato juice-soaked bag, drenched napkins, and soggy salt and pepper packets. I transferred the food to a real plate and tried to salvage it, but honestly, I should have just taken it back. The chicken was dry enough to fall off the skewer, cold, tough, and completely flavorless. The salad was even worse—likely made days ago. The cucumbers were slimy and discolored, clearly old and soggy. Fresh cucumbers should be crisp, as should the romaine lettuce, which was also covered in a slimy film. The tomatoes were so old they were almost flat. The only positive was the bread—at least I had that. But seriously, how hard is it to get bread right? Maybe next time... oh wait, there won’t be a next time!
NOT GOOD. I’ve heard many complaints about this location, but since I work nearby and love OPA, a few coworkers and I decided to try it today. Very disappointed. The woman who served us was so stingy that she actually took food off the girls’ plates! When I asked to have my platter wrapped up, they wanted to charge me extra—something I know other OPA locations do—but the charge here was double, and the portion was smaller! I received about two spoons of rice, which looked more like one full spoon compared to what you get at other locations. Please don’t waste your money here; go to PANAGO Pizza next door instead. I still love OPA, just not this location. The food itself was average.
I love this place. The staff is very friendly, the food is excellent, and the portions are larger than other Opa locations in Calgary. This is the best Opa spot in the city.
